Oregon football quarterback Ty Thompson to enter transfer portal, per ESPN
The Oregonian/OregonLive Ty Thompson’s time at Oregon is coming to an end. The redshirt-sophomore quarterback, who appeared in 17 games as a backup over the past three seasons, told ESPN he intends to enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Thompson has two years of eligibility remaining.
Thompson went 24 of 31 for 297 yards with four touchdowns and an interception and rushed for 48 yards while playing in seven games this season. He was 11 of 20 for 72 yards with two interceptions in seven games in 2022 and 7 of 15 for 87 yards with two touchdowns and an interception over three games in 2021. A four-star prospect in the class of 2021, Thompson was ranked No.
40 overall and No. 7 among quarterbacks, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was the highest-rated high school quarterback signee in Oregon history and still ranks among the top 20 UO recruits in the modern era.
Thompson will be the eighth UO scholarship player to enter the portal this month, joining defensive tackle Tevita Pome’e, cornerback Trikweze Bridges, safeties Bryan Addison and Daymon David and receivers Ashton Cozart, Josh Delgado and Kris Hutson. .
