NFL Team Report - Los Angeles Chargers
--The Chargers had an NFL-high seven players land on the AFC Pro Bowl team. Those being honored were quarterback Philip Rivers, running back Melvin Gordon, wide receiver Keenan Allen, center Mike Pouncey, rookie safety Derwin James, outside linebacker Melvin Ingram and safety Adrian Phillips. "That's special," James said, "to know you're among the best in the league." Pro Bowl alternates are left tackle Russell Okung (first), cornerback Casey Hayward (second) and fullback Derek Watt (third). --When wide receiver Mike Williams scored on a rushing and receiving touchdown in the win over the Chiefs, he was the first Charger to turn that trick since Tim Dwight in 2002. Williams was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. --The Chargers close out the season at Denver, facing one of the only three teams to beat them this year. --Rookie running back Justin Jackson will see his workload decrease with the return of Melvin Gordon. But Jackson is tied for the lead in the NFL while converting all five of his third-and-1 carries for first downs. --Tight end Hunter Henry, who injured his knee before the season started, returned to practice this week. Henry was expected to play a significant role in the offense before going down. It remains to be seen how much, if any, he can contribute down the stretch. --Defensive tackle Brandon Mebane is expected to play on Saturday after missing a month because of a health issue with his daughter. BY THE NUMBERS: 10 - Number of touchdown catches by Mike Williams, which is the most by a Chargers receiver since 1996.
