NFL Team Report - Los Angeles Chargers
RB Gordon expected back against Ravens The Los Angeles Chargers continue to put up impressive numbers and they'll look to stay on their roll when meeting the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. Los Angeles (11-3) will be aiming for its sixth win on the heels of having an NFL-high seven of its players selected to the AFC's Pro Bowl team. It seems everything is turning the Chargers' way as they keep the heat on the AFC West-leading Chiefs (11-3) thanks to last week's thrilling victory over Kansas City. If the Chargers win out and the Chiefs lose one of their pair of remaining games, L.A. would seize the AFC's top seed. The win in Kansas City pushed the Chargers to 17-4 since Week 11 of the 2017 season, which paces the NFL over that span. Plus, Pro Bowl running back Melvin Gordon is expected to return for the night game at the StubHub Center. Gordon has missed three games with a knee injury. "I don't want to get to the playoffs and be rusty," Gordon told espn.com. "I know Baltimore has a real good defense. It would have (been) good to hop back and knock some rust off against the Chiefs, but it's also a challenge to come knock some rust off against one of the best defenses in the league." The Chargers will face a motivated Ravens (8-6) team as they see their ex-teammate Eric Weddle for the first time. Baltimore is fighting for an AFC wild-card spot as it has been revitalized behind the play of quarterback Lamar Jackson. It would be hard to have two different quarterbacks than Philip Rivers and Lamar Jackson. Rivers is a rock in the pocket, seldom venturing outside it to move the ball down the field. Jackson is apt to pull the ball down at any time and scoot, as he relies on his legs almost as much as he does his right arm. The Chargers, who have clinched a playoff spot, keep chugging along, looking to possibly catch the Chiefs for the divisional title. If not, they'll be the top wild-card team while proving to be a dangerous squad to face in the postseason. But first they look to clip the Ravens' wings. SERIES RESULTS: 12th regular-season meeting. Ravens lead series, 6-5. The last three games against these foes have been decided by three points or less. The Chargers, who possess a 4-3 record when they are the home team, fell in their last pairing in 2015, 29-26, at Baltimore. The last time the Ravens visited the Chargers, Baltimore prevailed 16-13 in overtime.
