Wisconsin Badgers kicker Rafael Gaglianone (27) has converted 23 of his last 26 field goal attempts.
Wisconsin senior kicker Rafael Gaglianone is out indefinitely with an injury to his right leg, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday. Gaglianone, who was held out of practice for a number of days before going on the injury list, also is dealing with discomfort in his back, according to the newspaper. The second-most accurate kicker in school history, Gaglianone has converted 60 of 75 field goal attempts for the Badgers. He has nailed 23 of his last 26 attempts. Gaglianone appeared in 14 games in 2017 and was successful on 16 of 18 field goal attempts. He converted all 59 extra-point chances. The back discomfort could be a major concern for Gaglianone, who was limited to three games in 2016 before undergoing back surgery. He also missed spring practice in 2015 due to an ailing back. A pair of walk-ons, redshirt freshman Collin Larsh and redshirt junior Zach Hintze, have shared the kicking duties since Gaglianone was sidelined. Neither player has attempted a field goal for Wisconsin.
