Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (14) throws a pass against the Cleveland Browns in the first half at Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton's right thumb injury is not expected to be serious, according to a published report. Dalton was injured during the third quarter of Sunday's 35-20 setback to the Cleveland Browns at Paul Brown Stadium. A bad snap resulted in Dalton lunging to recover the ball that eventually was recovered by Browns defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. X-rays were negative and Dalton's injury was deemed to be only a sprain, per a report from Pro Football Talk. "On first look and everything it's not (serious)," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "They're going to do some further tests. "He's had some scans. But again, they're going to continue to look." Dalton completed 65.7 percent of his throws as the Bengals (5-6) opened the season with a 4-1 mark. The 31-year-old Dalton has seen an injury to perennial Pro Bowl wideout A.J. Green hamper his play of late, with the quarterback completing 226 of 365 passes for 2,566 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season. Jeff Driskel replaced Dalton on the second series of the third quarter and went 17 of 29 for 155 yards with a touchdown. The Bengals will look to snap a three-game losing skid on Sunday (1 p.m. ET) when they host the Denver Broncos (5-6).
