duke...added 14 yards on three attempts...head-to-head competition -- mlb#34 michael tauiliili -- seven tackles (three solo), one pressure.

negatives
Has good lower-body strength, but lacks the size and bulk you look for in a classic fullback...Has enough speed to get to the holes, but lacks the quickness and burst to take the ball for long distances...Gets too high in his stance when attempting to lead, lacking the hand punch or strong base to prevent defenders from pushing him back through the running lanes...Does not have the raw power needed to generate movement or push the pile...Lacks the hip shake and wiggle to consistently separate...More of a one-cut runner who gets too tall in his stride to plant-and-drive in and out of his cuts...When he gets too high in his stance, it is difficulty for him to avoid unnecessary hits...Effective short-area receiver, but will gather and round his cuts...Best when catching the ball in stride, as he has trouble looking the deep ball in over his outside shoulder...Makes only passive attempts to sustain and must extend his arms and generate more hand punch when blocking in-line.
hawaii...castille opened the season with six runs for 14 yards, bouncing around left end for a 3-yard scoring burst in the second quarter that ended a 10-play, 61-yard drive...also had a 12-yard reception...head-to-head competition -- mlb#41 solomon elimimian -- seven tackles (one solo), one stop for a one-yard loss.
Vanderbilt...Gained 19 yards on five attempts and nine yards on three catches, but lost a fumble after D.J. Moore tackled the Tide fullback on a one-yard run and Vanderbilt recovered the ball to set up a 6-yard touchdown pass from Commodores QB Chris Nickson to Earl Bennett...Head-to-Head Competition -- MLB#47 Jonathan Goff -- Thirteen tackles (seven solo), two forced fumbles, one pass deflection.
positives
Has a thick lower body with a good bubble and tapered thighs and calves...Shows decent initial quickness and a good burst to get into and through the creases...Has hip stiffness, but is an effective one-cut runner who can clear the line of scrimmage...Runs at a low pad level and shows good patience waiting for blocks to develop and the inside rush lanes to clear...Demonstrates adequate body control and good arm extension to adjust to off-target throws...Very alert on the field, quickly recognizing cutback lanes, and is effective settling into the zone's soft spots...Very effective squaring his shoulders and timing his leaps on the fullback dive down near the goal line...Has the awareness and balance to find the inside holes or slide away from trash...Uses his lower-body power to take what the defenses give when the hole is clogged...Does a good job of holding the ball with both hands, keeping the ball close to the body to insure it is secure before running up field (three fumbles on 161 carries)...Has a knack for getting open underneath, making him a decent "hot" outlet receiver for screens and flares...Has some quickness in his route release and the body lean to gain additional yardage on contact...Appears confident with his hands to reach and snatch the ball outside his frame.
arkansas...saw limited action, carrying three times for four yards.
Florida...Played, but did not touch the ball.
compares to
ZACK CROCKETT, Oakland Raiders (Florida State)...Like Crockett, Castille's main job has been to pound the ball across the goal line in short yardage. He is built like a tailback, but lacks the timed speed or loose hips to be effective there. Castille is a marginal blocker who doesn't have the power to clear the rush lanes and will be limited to goal-line chores at the next level.
oklahoma state (independence bowl)...in his only start for 2006, castille responded with six runs for nine yards and a 1-yard touchdown on 3rd-and-goal, ending a nine-play, 80-yard drive with 2
30 left in the first half...Also provided a key block to spring Javier Arenas for an 89-yard touchdown on a punt return in the fourth quarter...Head-to-Head Competition -- MLB#2 Rodrick Johnson -- Six tackles (two solo).
2002: Bothered during his senior year of high school with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. 2003: Sat out the Kentucky game (9/13) with a hyper-extended right knee. 2004: Suffered torn lateral collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee after taking a blindside hit vs. Tennessee (10/23), missing the final four games vs. Mississippi State, Louisiana State, Auburn and Minnesota (Music City Bowl). 2005: Sat out spring drills while continuing to rehabilitate from knee surgery...Sat out the Mississippi State game (11/05) after spraining his right ankle vs. Utah State.
